The Railway Industry Association and Women in Rail have today launched their ‘Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Charter’. The Charter has been designed to support diversity across the UK railway industry.

JFG Comms is among over 100 organisations who have signed up to the Charter, committing to work together to build a more balanced, fair and high performing railway sector.

As a signatory company, we recognise that an inclusive workforce is good for business. It brings diversity of thought, innovation, and a positive workforce culture, as well as improved customer relationships. As part of the Charter we have pledged to take pro-active steps that aim to promote better equality, diversity and inclusion within our organisation. 

Key commitments of the Charter include:

  • Appointing a member of the senior leadership team as an ‘EDI Champion’;
  • Agreeing an action plan, monitoring and reporting on progress made;
  • Providing opportunities for training and education of employees, and supporting the progression of diverse individuals into senior roles to improve diverse representation at senior and executive level of the UK railway industry;
  • Creating a culture that fosters inclusion and providing a safe place for employees to talk openly, including at industry events and in meetings; and
  • Making recruitment and progression processes accessible and attractive to all to attract, retain and develop people of all backgrounds, ages, genders and identities.

The Charter is open to all companies in the UK railway sector who wish to play a role in promoting innovation, agility and positive change in our industry.
